Monchhichi Monkey - Vintage Girl 1980's. An adorable plush monkey girl made by Segiguchi, Japan for the Danish market. Typical cute Japanese "Kawaii" design to appeal to human emotions.
Monchhichi was created by Yoshiharu Washino in 1974. Sekiguchi claim they created these plush toys to inspire respect and love in both children and adults. This darling monkey has moveable brown eyes with long eye lashes, rosy cheeks, freckles and can suck it's thumb. She even has a long furry tail.
Monchichi were very popular all over Western Europe. Renamed "Chicaboo" in the UK; "Mon Cicci" in Italy, "Kiki" in France and "Bølle" in Denmark. The height of the Monchichi dolls' popularity was in the 1980's.
This little vintage girl monkey has soft brown plush fur and rubber face, hands and feet. She is in very good condition and comes wearing her original red blouse with a dog pattern and denim pinafore with strawberry motifs. The clothes are removeable.
