Steiff - Mecki Hedgehog - Vintage 1980s. Curious little Mecki, Original Steiff animal made in Germany.
Mecki and his family were designed in Germany in 1940 by the artist Ferdinand Diehl. They became much more famous in the early 1950's following their appearance in a film & TV magazine HORZU. The family includes Mecki, the father hedgehog, Micki the mother and their children, Macki and Mucki. They have always been very popular in Germany and are still made by Steiff today.
Mecki is 17 cm tall with moveable arms. He is dressed in shirt and pants held up with string, a waistcoat and shoes. The body is made of felt with a latex face. He has a checky smile and a furry plush chest.
Comes with original Steiff disc and swing tags. In good condition, only used for display.
